About LATAM-SHM 2026
Following the success of the inaugural LATAM-SHM in Cartagena, Colombia, in December 2023, we are delighted to invite you to submit your abstracts for the 2nd LATAM-SHM. This event will be hosted by the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Chile, situated in Santiago, from January 7th to 9th, 2026.
Chile offers an unparalleled combination of breathtaking landscapes and cultural wealth, standing out as one of the safest and most economically stable countries in South America. Nestled between the Andes mountains and the Pacific Ocean and stretching over 5000 km from the Atacama Desert to the pristine beauty of Patagonia, attendees will be enthralled by the country's natural wonders. The capital, Santiago, is located in a valley encircled by the snow-capped peaks of the Andes and the Chilean coastal mountains.
The University of Chile, established in 1842, is the foremost and oldest higher education institution in the country, embodying a national and public ethos. Professor Viviana Meruane, the current Director of Academic, Research, and Innovation at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, will chair the conference.
The workshop aims to facilitate the exchange of information and to highlight the latest advancements in SHM technologies and their practical applications, focusing on contributions and developments from Central and South America. English will be the primary language for the conference, encompassing all communications, keynote lectures, and the majority of presentations. Recognizing that this requirement may be daunting for some, the organizers will consider allowing sessions in Spanish with simultaneous translation. An exhibition space will also be available for product and technology demonstrations. Additionally, a special volume of the Proceedings, featuring all accepted papers, will be published and indexed in SCOPUS.
If your academic or professional activity is related to this fast-growing technical field, you are invited to participate, either at the conference sessions or at the technical exhibition. It will give you great opportunities to make your research known worldwide and establish closer links with the scientific and industrial community, not only in Latin America but also internationally.
